Is Bottled Water the Biggest Consumer Hoax of the 21st Century?

gullible … easily deceived or cheated

For all those who are still drinking branded bottled water, I have just one question to ask, WHY?

They say a sucker is born every minute. If you’re still drinking water out of single use plastic bottles, I’ve got one word for you, SUCKER!

Did you know 40% of the bottled water people buy thinking they are purchasing a superior/purer product comes from municipal sources! Some of the best-selling brands like Dasani and Aquafina are little more than tap water, albeit “filtered” tap water.

Worse still, particularly in our $4 a gallon for gas economy, bottled water is expensive, 1,900 times more expensive than water from closely regulated and monitored municipal sources. Studies have shown that a family of four can save as much as $2,000 a year or more simply by switching from branded bottle water to water they filter themselves.

If you continue to believe that branded bottled water is more pure than tap water, think again. In 2008 The Environmental Working Group conducted a large-scale study of branded bottle water and found a broad range of pollutants that included:

not only disinfection byproducts, but also common urban wastewater pollutants like caffeine and pharmaceuticals (Tylenol); heavy metals and minerals including arsenic and radioactive isotopes; fertilizer residue (nitrate and ammonia); and a broad range of other, tentatively identified industrial chemicals used as solvents, plasticisers, viscosity decreasing agents, and propellants.

The truth is consumers who continue to buy into the hype and myths of the so-called advantages of bottled water are paying a premium price yet really don’t know what they are getting. This may be great marketing and great for the bottom line of numerous corporations, but it’s not for our environment or the public.
